The school management has come out in support of the students and has also promised to take action against the concerned teacher.

A school in Maharashtra has come under fire for asking students to write a sentence 30 times as punishment for not paying their diary and identity card fees on time. According to a Hindustan Times report, the New Horizon Scholars School in Thane has given a deadline to about five to eight students of a class (in a way reminding their parents) to pay the fees for their diaries and identity cards. Punished for coming close to.

Students were asked to write ‘I will not forget to bring Rs 300 tomorrow’ 30 times in their notebooks. The last date for submission of diary and identity card fee is April 20.

The parents of one of the students complained to the school management and demanded strict action on this. The school management has come out in support of the parents and has also assured action against the concerned teacher.

A worried parent of a student told Hindustan Times, “This is inexcusable as my traumatized son was not ready to go to school the next day.” Another parent, whose son also faced punishment, said that the children could have been asked to write a paragraph from their textbook instead of this specific sentence. “My son is humiliated. Who will pay for his emotional distress caused by this incident?” The parents added.

Meanwhile, another parent reported that a student was “sent to the corner of the classroom” and asked to stand up and write sentences when she refused to follow instructions given by the teacher.

On April 18, a parent informed the school management about the incident through the school’s WhatsApp group. After this, the Vice Principal of the school called and discussed the matter with the parents. Soon after the meeting, the parents said that the vice-principal has ‘assured strict action against the teacher’ but has no response to the humiliation of the children in the school.

The parent further stated that they had earlier asked the management to refrain from involving the students in the matter of fees. The top management of the school is yet to respond to the allegation in a public statement.
