Maharashtra reports 5,218 Covid-19 cases, 60 pc increase; a death

Maharashtra recorded 5,218 new cases on Thursday coronavirus The infection and a pandemic-related death, which took the caseload in the state to 79,50,240 and the death toll to 1,47,893, said a health department report. State capital Mumbai reported 2,479 infections.

The daily cases increased by 60 per cent as compared to the previous day. On Wednesday, there were 3,260 cases and three deaths in the state. The number of active cases rose to 24,867, including 13,614 in Mumbai, followed by neighboring Thane with 5,488 cases and Pune districts reporting 2,443 cases.

With 4,989 patients recovering at home or hospital since Wednesday evening, the number of recovered patients rose to 77,77,480. The recovery rate in Maharashtra is 97.83 percent and the death rate is 1.86 percent. On Thursday, the maximum number of 4,166 cases were reported from the Mumbai circle, which includes the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

665 cases were reported in Pune circle, 135 in Nagpur circle, 72 in Kolhapur circle, 63 in Akola circle, 62 in Nashik, 31 in Latur and 24 in Aurangabad circle. The lone death occurred in Mumbai during the day. With 55,990 new coronavirus tests being conducted in 24 hours, the number of samples tested so far in Maharashtra rose to 8,17,47,761.
