47 killed in floods in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.

The death toll in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra’s Raigad district rose to 47 on Saturday, including 37 in a landslide in Taliye village, the state disaster management department said.

A total of 47 people have died in rain-related incidents in Raigad district of Konkan region. The official death toll in Taliye village is 37, while the remaining 10 deaths occurred in two separate incidents of landslides in the same district, the report said.

A landslide took place on Thursday evening in Taliye village of Mahad tehsil. In Ratnagiri, 11 people lost their lives in such incidents, while six others in Satara, it said.

The report said that five have died in Kolhapur, four in Mumbai suburb, two in Sindhudurg and one in Pune. “59 people are still missing, out of which 53 are from Raigad, four from Satara and two from Thane,” it said.

So far 89 people have been injured due to heavy rains. The department said in the report that 89,333 people have been evacuated so far due to floods and heavy rains, including 40,882 in Kolhapur district alone.

21 teams and 59 boats from various government agencies are engaged in the rescue operation.
