Mumbai: Waves settle on the seashore after monsoon rains at Marine Drive

Maharashtra rains: With the onset of Monsoon in Maharashtra, parts of the state including the capital Mumbai and its adjoining areas are receiving rain. The India Meteorological Department on Wednesday issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and an orange alert for adjoining areas like Thane and Palghar. In addition, the sea level is expected to rise significantly, so people have been asked to stay away from the sea today.

High tide of 3.94 meters is expected in Mumbai at around 4:32 pm today. Waves are expected to rise above 13 feet. Meanwhile, Mumbai and its adjoining areas received heavy rains on Tuesday, leading to water-logging at many places, including railway tracks, slowing down the movement of trains and vehicles on the roads.

Like other parts of Maharashtra, it has been raining in Rajapur taluka area, which has washed away many crops. Several parts of Rajapur have been submerged by the floods and the local market is expected to be completely submerged if the rains continue.

Maharashtra’s new Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took stock of the situation and directed the state administration officials to take necessary precautions and ensure that there is no loss of life or property.

Two National Disaster Response Teams arrived in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district as the water level of Panchganga river rose sharply due to heavy rains. Over 3,500 people were evacuated from flood-prone and vulnerable places across the state, where rains lashed several districts, including Mumbai.
