Nagpur: Naxalites In Maharashtra‘s Gadchiroli the district is using drone to monitor the movement of policea senior official said on Friday.
Drones or unmanned aerial vehicles have been spotted near armed posts and sub-police stations along the state’s border with Chhattisgarh in the past few months, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Gadchiroli range) Sandeep Patil said.
He said the rebels use these devices to monitor police activities. Drones were sighted in Pipripata area of Gondia district and Venkatpur in Gadchiroli district in the last two days, he said.
The DIG said that the police is taking retaliatory steps as per the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the central government to deal with such menace. NS
Patil said the drones being used by the Naxalites are not advanced machines but drones used for video shooting at weddings.
He said that as per the preliminary investigation, they are being brought from Hyderabad.
