Accused Dilip Ghevre, Town Planner Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation, along with others had fraudulently shown residential plots as agricultural so that they could collect benefits under ULC Act And in the process the state exchequer suffered huge losses in the form of taxes etc. crime branch the officer said.
“Ghevre was absconding for the last two weeks and had also applied for anticipatory bail in the sessions court. He was arrested from Surat in Gujarat in the morning. This is the fourth time in the case since the investigation by the crime branch started on June 10. There is an arrest. Earlier, in 2017 five people were arrested and charge sheet was filed against them,” said Laxmikant Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime).
