Mumbai: On Monday, Maharashtra 3,626 new cases of coronavirus were reported – the lowest since February 15.
The total caseload now stands at 64,89,800. With this, 37 people died in the state, taking the death toll to 1,37,811.
The fresh deaths were the lowest since March 8.
The number of cured patients in the last 24 hours is more than the new cases. He said 5,988 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of cured cases to 63,00,755.
Maharashtra now has 47,695 active cases.
Maharashtra has reported the lowest daily number of cases since February 15, when it reported 3,365 new cases. The death toll in the state was the lowest since March 8, when 22 deaths were reported.
According to the official, 3,03,169 people are in home isolation in the state and another 1,963 are in institutional quarantine.
The official said Maharashtra’s Covid-19 recovery rate is 97.09 per cent, while the death rate is 2.12 per cent. He said the cumulative number of tests conducted in the state rose to 5,49,99,475, of which 1,45,457 were conducted in the last 24 hours.
Nandurbar, Akola, Amravati, YavatmaliWardha, Bhandara and Gondia districts, and Jalgaon, Dhule and Amravati municipal corporations (urban areas) did not report any new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, he said. Ahmednagar district recorded the highest number of new infections at 805, followed by Pune at 416, while Mumbai recorded the highest number of five deaths in the state in the last 24 hours, the official said.
Among the eight regions of Maharashtra, Pune recorded the highest number of 1,267 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Nashik region with 953 cases. Among other zones, Mumbai region recorded 728 new cases, Kolhapur 517, Latur 98, Aurangabad 36, Nagpur 14 and Akola region 13, he said.
According to the official, of the 37 people from eight regions, maximum 12 were from Pune region, followed by 10 from Nashik region. 10 people died in Nashik region, 6 in Mumbai, five in Kolhapur and four in Aurangabad region.
Significantly, no fresh death has been reported in Aurangabad, Akola and Nagpur regions. Mumbai saw 383 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths, while Pune city reported 198 new cases but no fresh deaths, the official said. He said that out of 47,695 active patients in the state, Pune district has the highest number of 12,413 patients.
The official said that of the 63,00,755 cured patients across the state, the maximum number of 10,92,471 are from Pune district.
