Maharashtra government says no loudspeakers at religious places without permission

Amid the loudspeaker controversy in Maharashtra, the state government has passed an order that it is mandatory to take permission from local authorities to install loudspeakers at religious places.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil will hold a meeting with the DGP today and direct all the police commissioners on the issue.

The controversy started when MNS chief Raj Thackeray gave an ultimatum to the Maharashtra government to remove loudspeakers from mosques by May 3 and threatened to chant Hanuman Chalisa if the order was not followed.
