Maharashtra crisis: Disgruntled Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde offered prayers at the Kamakhya temple on Wednesday. Shinde was accompanied by two more MLAs from the western state and BJP MLA from Assam Sushant Borgohain, who have been with him since the dissidents landed at the Guwahati airport.

Speaking to reporters outside the temple complex, Shinde said he will return to Mumbai on Thursday to “complete the formalities”, which means he will participate in the steps to form the new government.

“I had gone to the Kamakhya temple for the happiness and prosperity of Maharashtra. I seek the blessings of Maa Kamakhya,” Shinde told reporters outside the temple.

When asked about the next step, the rebel leader said, “We will return to Mumbai tomorrow to complete the necessary formalities.”

In an apparent attempt to topple the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, several disgruntled Shiv Sena MLAs, along with some independents, have been camping in Guwahati, about 2,700 km from Mumbai, since June 22.
