Mumbai: Maharashtra 6,740 new reported covid-19 case On Monday, the number of infections rose to 61,04,917, while the death toll rose to 1,23,136 with 51 fresh deaths, a health department official said.
The state reported a sharp drop in both daily Covid-19 cases and fatalities compared to Sunday, when it recorded 9,336 infections and 123 fatalities.
The official said 13,027 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the number of cured cases to 58,61,720.
He said that there are now 1,16,827 active cases in the state.
He said that the recovery rate from Kovid-19 in Maharashtra is 96.02 percent, while the death rate is 2.01 percent.
According to the official, 1,69,517 coronavirus tests were conducted in the last 24 hours (down from 2,22,063 on Sunday), taking their total to 4,27,12,460.
The official said that at present 6,42,253 people are in home quarantine across the state and 4,233 people are in institutional quarantine.
According to the official, 486 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Mumbai, taking the tally to 7,25,161, while the death toll rose to 15,554 after 10 more patients succumbed to the infection.
He said 157 new cases were found in the Pune municipal limits, taking the tally to 4,96,213, while the death toll remained unchanged at 8,306 as no fresh deaths were reported in the city.
According to the official, 42, 161, 56, 11 and 14 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Nagpur, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nashik, Aurangabad and Amravati Municipal Corporation areas respectively.
