In a tragic accident, a bus caught fire after hitting a pole on the Samruddhi-Maharg Expressway late at night. According to reports, a total of 26 people, including three children, died in the accident, while around seven people were injured. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital for treatment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed condolences. PM Modi and CM Shinde also announced ex-gratia for the next of kin of the victims.

The accident took place on the Samruddhi-Mahamarg Expressway at around 1:30 pm on Saturday. “The bus was on its way from Nagpur to Pune when it met with an accident at around 1:30 am. The accident occurred after a tire burst, causing the bus to catch fire. Later, the diesel tank of the vehicle caught fire. The fire. Among the dead, three are children and the rest are adults,” Buldhana SP Sunil Kadasane told reporters.
