Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) On Thursday night, Maharashtra Board announced to conduct class 10 and 12 exams in offline mode. The decision has angered many students, who are now demanding the board to withdraw its decision and conduct online exams instead.
Many students claim that they are scared of the new Omicron version and with the rise in new cases in the country, they should be allowed to appear for the exam online. Raising similar concerns, many took to the social media platform with the hashtag #cancelboardexams2022.
Highlighting that most of the students are not vaccinated, a Twitter user claiming to be a student says,
#cancelboardexam2022 wow..hopefully…. First of all we are not vaccinated. …we didn’t even get the first dose of vaccine…how can we give offline exam…. We are not mentally prepared for this… please understand us…- Aryan (@Aryanhakor) December 17, 2021
Another user said,
I respect your decision, but we students are not at all ready to take the exam. We are learning online since 2 years and how can you guys expect that we will give such an important HSC board exam physically, we haven’t written a single paper since 2 years.- Srishti Ballal (@srushtib26) December 16, 2021
Many students also claimed that they are not ready to take the exam in offline mode as all their exams have been done online since last two years.
#cancelboardexam2022This is very unfair because since 2 years we are giving online exam in mcq format, how do you expect that we will suddenly give board exam, its board is not joke, we are not mentally prepared, we are sad @VarshaEGaikwadWe want to promote online exam or @PMOIndia— alex (@alex05893498) December 17, 2021

Every year at least 20 lakh students register for Maharashtra board exams including both SSC and HSC. Last year, the Maharashtra Board did not conduct the exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The results based on the alternative evaluation mode were one of the best ever recorded by the state board. 99.63 per cent students who registered for the Maharashtra HSC exam had passed the board. In SSC, 95.30 per cent students passed the exam, again in one of the highest results.
