Kalyan: After Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Announced the decision to waive property tax on houses up to 500 square feet within the limits of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ,BMC, Shiv Sena leader Deepesh Mhatre From Dombivali town in Thane district, he has demanded equal relief to citizens in the twin cities of Kalyan-Dombivali.
Mhatre wrote a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray stating his demand. “It is my humble request to extend the same tax exemption benefits to Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation Which will provide much-needed relief to the middle and low-income group, who are the most affected sections due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” appealed former standing committee chairman Mhatre, in his letter to Thackeray.
The social worker of the city also told the state government that KDMC Citizens charge the highest property tax of 71.5 per cent and if they give relief to 500 sq ft houses, it will benefit the citizens of the lower income group.
‘If he is the CM of the entire state then he should also waive property tax up to 500 sq ft for Ulhasnagar’
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leaders in Ulhasnagar have also demanded that CM Thackeray waive off property tax of up to 500 square feet for all houses in the city.
MNS Ulhasnagar Municipal President Bandu Deshmukh said that similar benefits should be given to citizens living in Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation limits like Mumbaikars.
Deshmukh told TOI, “Earlier, some Shiv Sena leaders used to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he is only the PM of Gujarat state, but now the same by announcing benefits only for the houses of Mumbai Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. are working. If he feels that he is the Chief Minister of the entire state, then he should announce similar relief for the citizens of entire Maharashtra including our Ulhasnagar city.”
