New Delhi: Hours after Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad President Mahant Narendra Giri was found dead at his Baghambri Math residence in Prayagraj on Monday, UP Police detained his disciple Anand Giri from Haridwar with the help of Uttarakhand Police.
Yoga guru Anand Giri was named by the seer in his suicide note. UP ADG Law and Order said a suicide note was recovered in which Mahant Narendra Giri accused Anand Giri and two others of the move, reported ANI.
According to a PTI report, the seer had also written that he was mentally disturbed and was ending his life.
Police said that he had also assigned various responsibilities to his disciples in the note.
However, accused Anand Giri said that it is a conspiracy against them and they are trying to extort extortion in the name of Mahant’s death. Speaking to ANI, Anand Giri said, “This is a big conspiracy by those who used to extort money from Guruji and wrote my name in the letter. It should be probed as Guruji did not write a letter in his life.” It is written and could not. Someone commit suicide, his handwriting should be checked.”
Anand Giri further said, “I have spent my whole life there and never took any money. Everything was good between me and Guru ji and hence I request the government to investigate the matter thoroughly.”
The sadhu had also talked about building a samadhi in the suicide note, he said that the decision on this too would be taken by the office bearers of the Akhara Parishad.

According to ABP sources, all the 13 heads of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) will be present in Prayagraj to perform the last rites of Mahant Giri. They will also hold a meeting regarding the investigation of the matter and the demand for nomination of the new head of the arena.

His body was found hanging inside the Shri Math Baghambri Gaddi in Prayagraj.

Heavy police force was deployed at Muth from 6 pm on Sunday and barricades were put up in the surrounding areas. All the top officials including Divisional Commissioner, District Magistrate, IG, SSP were present in Muth.
