Three laborers were working on the spot when the stone wall fell on them. All three were taken to a local rural hospital where two of them were declared brought dead.

Two laborers were killed and another seriously injured when a British-era stone wall collapsed on the banks of a drain in Murtijapur town of Akola district in Maharashtra on Sunday.

The incident took place in the afternoon when construction work was underway to widen the nullah, an official said.

“Three laborers were working at the spot when the stone wall of the drain collapsed on them. The local people reached the spot and started removing the stones. All three were taken to a local rural hospital where two of them were declared brought dead. Another laborer is undergoing treatment,” the official said, adding that the deceased pair were in their 20s.
