Maha Shocker: 3-Year-Old Raped By Ragpicker At Railway Station In Navi Mumbai

A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a rag picker at a railway station in Navi Mumbai, a Government Railway Police (GRP) official said on Monday.

Panvel GRP senior inspector Praveen Padvai said the incident took place at the Panvel railway station in the early hours of March 2, when the girl was sleeping with her mother on the premises.

The accused took the girl aside and raped her. Later, the mother found the child crying at some distance, he said.

The official said the child’s parents approached the police with a complaint against the accused, who was arrested within hours.

A case has been registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, he said.
