The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck near Tonga on Saturday.
According to the USGS, the epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately 270 km (167 mi) south of Tonga at a depth of 10 km (6.2 mi).
The US Tsunami Warning System said there is no tsunami threat to the US West Coast, British Columbia or Alaska following the quake.
