The ongoing Test match which is currently being played at Edgbaston was much awaited since it was postponed due to the COVID outbreak in the United Kingdom last year. India are currently leading the series 2-1 and they would now like to deprive the English side of a win and win the series.

The last time the series started, Kohli was leading the team along with Ravi Shastri. On the other hand, Joe Root Chris was leading the English side with Silverwood performing his duties as head coach. But times changed and leadership roles changed for both the teams.

Rohit Sharma Took over the command of the Indian team under the supervision of head coach Rahul Dravid. Ben Stokes, on the other hand, took over the duties of head coach with Brendon McCullum as captain in place of Joe Root. Captain Ben Stokes won the toss and invited India to bat first. The likes of James Anderson, Matthew Potts and Stuart Broad took enormous advantage of the environment and they performed as expected.

With Shubman Gill Cheteshwar Pujaraand Hanuma Vihari gone, Virat Kohli And Shreyas Iyer followed him into the dressing room. England were all over India and it seemed that the remaining batsmen like Pant and Jadeja would have to shoulder the responsibility of getting India out of trouble.

Pant scored 146 runs and Ravindra Jadeja Still batting after scoring 83* off 163 balls. Both Jadeja and Pant shared a 222-run partnership and saved India. Rishabh Pant’s century is the fastest century by any batsman in the history of Edgbaston.

When the game resumes on the second day, it will be interesting to see what strategy both the teams will have.
