Madhya Pradesh: Ujjain lit up with the light of diyas, more than 11 lakh diyas lit on the banks of river Shipra, record recorded in Guinness Book

The religious city of Ujjain lit up with lakhs of lamps on Mahashivratri. Ujjain created a world record by lighting more than 21 lakh lamps. 11 lakh 71 thousand 78 lamps were lit on the banks of river Shipra. The first lamp was lit by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. During this, colorful fireworks were also done. The team of Guinness Book of World Records recorded the name of Ujjain by calling it the biggest display of lamps.


On Tuesday, every citizen of Ujjain became a witness to the world record. The festival which was envisioned in the past came true on Tuesday evening and more than 21 lakh lamps were lit across the city. Earlier, a record was made in Ayodhya by lighting nine lakh 41 thousand 551 lamps, but Ujjain broke this record and created a new history. The event was organized in the name of Shiv Jyoti Arpanam Mahotsav in which more than 20 thousand people participated.

This Deepotsav was telecast on various social media platforms including TV channels. Not only this, after the end of the program, the team of Municipal Corporation collected empty bottles and diyas and also gave the message of cleanliness. Municipal Commissioner Anshul Gupta claimed to be the world’s biggest zero waste program and said that all the used diyas will be recycled into a big diya. Pots, chairs will be made from oil bottles.

More than 11 lakh lamps were lit at five ghats of Ujjain. Diyas were placed in block 6222. Between 6.35 to 7 pm, more than 12 thousand people lit diyas. Photography-videography was done with the drone camera by turning off the lights of the area at 7 pm. Photo-videography was done.

After the siren sounded, the volunteers started lighting the lamps. First of all, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with wife Sadhna Singh lit 11 lamps. Surveillance was done here with five drone cameras. From Ramghat to the hungry Mata Ghat, a crowd of people gathered. In just 10 minutes, 11 lakh 71 thousand 78 diyas were lit. A five-member team from the Guinness Book of World Records was also present here. Collector Ashish Singh said that the team of Guinness Book of World Records has also announced this.
