Madhya Pradesh CM announces construction of grand Vajpayee memorial at Bharat Mata Mandir in Bhopal, Gwalior

Shivraj Chauhan also said that a grand memorial will be built in Gwalior, the birthplace of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday announced the construction of Bharat Mata Mandir in the capital Bhopal. He said that the statues of freedom fighters and their contribution to the country would be described in detail in the temple.

There is already a Shaurya Memorial in Bhopal which is dedicated to the heroes of the country. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 14 October 2016.

“It will help in making the coming generations aware of the priceless sacrifices of those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom,” Chouhan said during an event at Shaurya Smarak. As part of Amrit Mahotsav this year, programs related to freedom struggle will be organized and books on freedom fighters will be published.

Meanwhile, he also said that a grand memorial will be built in Gwalior, the birthplace of former Prime Minister and politician Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Chouhan made the announcement after paying floral tributes at Vajpayee’s statue at Shaurya Smarak.

He said that Vajpayee was an ajatshatru and never compromised in front of the most powerful countries when his government conducted nuclear tests. Born on December 25, 1924 in Gwalior, Bharat Ratna awardee Vajpayee died on August 16, 2018.
