Actress Madhuri was extremely popular among Tamil and Malayalam audiences in the 1980s. He has shared screen space with leading actors of his time such as Rajinikanth, Vijayakanth, Prabhu, Sathyaraj, Karthik, Ramarajan, Mohanlal and Pandian.
Madhuri made her debut in 1984 with the Malayalam film, Pavam Kooran. The film was directed by Rajasenan and produced by V. Raja. The film also featured Shankar, Bhagyalakshmi, TG Ravi and Captain Raju along with Madhuri. The film was later remade in Tamil also titled Pavm Koduran. Pavm Krooran was a huge success.
Madhuri is said to have previously acted as a child artist in the 1953 Malayalam film Loknidhi and the 1973 film Utyam. Madhuri was still a teenager when she was cast in Pavam Kooran in 1984, so the news of her appearing in these films does not hold much water.
Posters depicting Madhuri’s bedroom scene with TG Ravi in Pavam Kooran are still popular in Kerala. In those days, acting in Malayalam films that were A certified from the censor board was not a big deal. Prominent stars like Prem Nazir, Jagti Sreekumar and Madhu have acted in such films.
After Pavam Kooran, most of the films starring Madhuri in Malayalam, including Chatur, Ente Sapatham and Orukkal Oritattu, were given an A certificate by the Censor Board.
Madhuri also got a role in Mohanlal’s hit film Boing Boing, which was written and directed by Priyadarshan. The film was a box office success and is now considered one of the cult classics of Malayalam cinema. The story of the film revolves around Shyam (Mohanlal), who is dating three flight attendants at the same time and the situation becomes even more difficult when his friend Anilkumar (Mukesh) arrives. Madhuri played the role of an air hostess named Padma in the film.
Madhuri also starred in the 1985 Tamil film Alai Osai. After Alai Osai, she got roles in several Tamil films. Madhuri stopped acting in A-certified films after appearing in a series of Tamil language films.
Madhuri played Rajinikanth’s sister in Rajinikanth-starrer Manithan. In 1988 alone, Madhuri acted in more than 25 films.
However, in the early 90s, he was not getting much roles. After 1995, Madhuri completely disappeared from showbiz.
While those who shared the screen with Madhuri in the early stages of Malayalam cinema are still active in the industry, Madhuri is nowhere to be seen.
