Lufthansa flight makes emergency landing at Chicago airport after laptop catches fire mid-air

A Lufthansa flight from Los Angeles to Frankfurt, Germany, made an unexpected stop at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport after a passenger’s laptop caught fire, the airline reported. The plane landed at O’Hare Monday night as a precaution after a hot laptop caught fire in a passenger’s cabin, according to the airline. According to WLS-TV, the fire was extinguished when the plane landed safely.

Lufthansa said in a statement that no passengers were injured, but two flight attendants were treated for smoke inhalation following an “unscheduled landing”. The airline said its ground staff was helping passengers rebook on flights to their final destinations and said it was sorry for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
