Ludhiana: Pen-down strike of Excise and Taxation officials against non-fulfillment of demands entered the third day on Friday.
Members of the Senior Officers Association angry with the state government still not communicating with them to resolve their issues (SOA), Excise and Taxation Officers Association (ETOA) with the Excise and Taxation Inspectors Association (ETIA) and Ministerial Employees Association (MSA) demonstrated in all the offices of the Excise and Taxation Department in Punjab. A massive demonstration was held at the department’s Ludhiana office where dozens of officers sat on the floor and raised slogans in support of their demands.
A joint statement issued by all the protesting unions said, “Continuing the pen down strike from 15th December, ETOA along with ETIA and MSA staged a dharna today in the office of the Deputy Commissioner of State Taxes (DCST) Ludhiana regarding pay scale . 6th pay commission and harassment by department officials Vigilance Department, If our demands are not met, the pen down strike will be continued this weekend and further converted into mass holiday protest from 20th December, 2021 and the official like issue of new registration, amendment, scrutiny, evaluation None of the duties will happen. Refunds, issuance of passes or permits, road checking by the mobile wing/districts of GST and Excise will be done till the demands of the unions are met”
Some of the senior officers and functionaries of both SOA and ETOA involved in the protest include Assistant Commissioner of Excise and Taxation VP Singh and Shivani Gupta, ETO Baldeep Karan Singh |, Karanbir Singh and Bakshish singh, ETIs Hardeep singh and Inderpal bhalla.
