It was clear that Deepak Hooda came into the party with 51 off 33, while Ayush Badoni made 19 off 12 balls to help the team score 169 for 7 in their overs. Rahul set an example by scoring 68 runs in 50 balls.

Ken cheap out

Chasing 170, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a poor start when skipper Kane Williamson was dismissed by Avesh Khan in his first over. SRH has been in dispute with its team for some time now. Last year, the David Warner controversy surrounded the side. In 2022, after releasing the likes of Warner and Rashid Khan, SRH is looking no better and Williamson has so far only seen a shadow of his classy self with the bat.

Avesh Khan did more damage when Abhishek Sharma was dismissed in his second over thanks to a brilliant catch from Manish Pandey. Avesh almost caught Rahul Tripathi in the lane but it was a difficult opportunity and a diving Deepak Hooda did well to put his hand on the ball.

Rahul vs Rahul

LSG captain KL Rahul took the lead for his team earlier in the evening – later in the night, his name Rahul Tripathi led an enthusiastic reaction for SRH after Avesh Khan damaged the top order with two quick wickets. . He was aggressive and created a dropped chance to put Sunrisers on the hunt for 170 runs.

Krunal Pandya dismissed Aiden Markram to set up SRH again before Nicolas Pooran joined Tripathi in the middle.

SRH forward slip

Sunrisers Hyderabad were in further trouble after Tripathi fell at the hands of Kunal Pandya. The asking rate grew exponentially with Nicholas Pooran and Washington Sundar at the crease. KL Rahul used his resources cleverly, even as Jason Holder and Andrew Tye scored runs in the chase. Krunal Pandya finished his spell with 2 for 27 to leave SRH in a spin.

fury on fire

Avesh Khan was brought back into the attack for his final over, with SRH still requiring 33 runs off the last 18 balls. Nicholas Pooran hit him for a six off the first ball but he took the wickets of Pooran and Abdul Samad in back-to-back deliveries. Romario Shepherd held out a yorker to deny Avesh a hat-trick, but the LSG pacer impressed with a dreamy spell and scored 4 for 24 in his 4 overs, giving SRH 26 runs in the last 2 overs.

In the end, SRH fell short of 12 runs despite cruise control being in place. The final over of Avesh Khan’s dream spell proved to be the difference between the two sides in a close contest.

Washington Rocks LSG

Soon after Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to field, Washington Sundar removed Lucknow Super Giants opener Quinton de Kock and No. 3 Evin Lewis in his first two overs. LSG suffered a top-order collapse in their opening match of IPL 2022 against Gujarat Titans before making a strong comeback against defending champions Chennai Super Kings.

Against CSK, KL Rahul and de Kock put on 99 runs for the first wicket as LSG chased down a big total. On Monday, IPL freshmen were in a spot when Manish Pandey fell to Romario Shepherd when Washington Sundar trapped two of his most dangerous batsmen.

rahul hooda roar

3 for 27, Lucknow Super Giants needed a strong partnership to get out of trouble. And in came Deepak Hooda who was not impressed by the situation or the bowling attack. Exuding confidence after making his debut for India earlier this year, Hooda was especially hard on Umran Malik. KL Rahul dropped the anchor just like he did for Punjab Kings last season.

While Rahul was happy to take a backseat, Hooda propelled SRH’s bowling attack forward and scored a stylish half-century. He was eventually dismissed for 51 for 33 by Shepherd, but not before adding an invaluable 87 with his captain KL Rahul.

After Hooda’s fall, Rahul rushed to complete his maiden half-century for LSG and became the 5th Indian after Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina to score 50 fifties in T20 cricket.

Rahul’s stay at the crease ended when T Natarajan dismissed him for 68 off 50 balls. The left-arm pacer from SRH dismissed the dangerous Krunal Pandya, who brought Jason Holder to the crease along with Ayush Badoni.

22-year-old Ayush Badoni played another cameo (19 off 12) before being run out on the final ball of the innings as LSG posted 169 for 7 in their 20 overs.
