LSG vs RCB Highlights, IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore Defend 126, Beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 Runs

Play was briefly halted in Lucknow due to rain and resumed after no overs were lost. Amit Mishra dismissed Faf du Plessis for 44 after Dinesh Karthik hit a four and a six.

The spinners continued to keep the RCB batsmen quiet with Ravi Bishnoi when he had Glenn Maxwell lbw at 4. RCB continue to struggle to increase the scoring rate.

Bishnoi struck first when he stumped RCB batsman Virat Kohli for 31. After this dismissal, the first wicket partnership between Kohli and Faf du Plessis ended.

In a hectic start to RCB’s innings, LSG was hit by an injury as their skipper KL Rahul limped off the field after injuring himself while fielding. Dealing with the spinners has become difficult as the RCB openers have made it 42/0 in six overs.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis called it right at the toss and decided to bat first expecting the pitch to slow down and be more challenging for the batsmen later. Bangalore have made a few changes – David Willey and Shahbaz Ahmed are out and Josh Hazlewood and Anuj Rawat walk in.

Lucknow have made one change – they have benched Avesh Khan and replaced him with Krishnappa Gautam.

After losing their last match to Kolkata Knight Riders, RCB will be desperate to bounce back and get their campaign back on track. Faf du Plessis and Co. have been left behind in the race for the playoffs and are currently placed sixth on the points table. He has to gear up now to make a strong case for himself or else it will be too late. Meanwhile, Du Plessis is expected to be fully fit for the clash and will lead the team, unlike the last three games where he played as an impact player.

RCB’s middle-order has to bulk up in the tournament now as they rely heavily on their star trio of Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell to do all the muscle work with the bat.

While Josh Hazlewood can also play his first match of the season on Monday in Ekana which can suit his bowling style. Mohammed Siraj has been brilliant with the ball this season while other bowlers Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga and Vaishakh Vijayakumar have been inconsistent in their performances.

Revenge will be on the mind of RCB as they face off against LSG in the reverse fixture of IPL 2023 in Lucknow on Monday evening.

On the other hand, KL Rahul remained the only worry for Lucknow Supergiants in the batting department. The LSG skipper has struggled badly with the bat this season as his strike rate is questionable. While Kyle Mayers scored a half-century in the previous match, he will once again be expected to dominate the line-up with Quinton de Kock. While there is no update on Mark Wood’s availability for the clash.
