Jaffna Kings continued their dominance in the Lankan Premier League as they beat Colombo Stars by 102 runs on Thursday. Kings scored 193/5 in their 20 overs to bundle out Colombo Stars for 91 runs in 15.5 overs.

The Stars did not get the required momentum during the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Mahesh Thekshana set the tone for the Kings in the third over by dismissing captain Angelo Mathews for 10 runs off 8 balls.

Tom Banton was the only attraction in Colombo Stars’ batting card with 30 off 33 balls. Jaden Seals and Vijayakant Vyasakant were the bowlers’ picks for Jaffna Kings with figures of 4/13 and 3/32 respectively.

Earlier, Jaffna Kings scored a huge total of 193/5 in their 20 overs. Opening batsmen Tom Koehler-Cadmore and Upul Tharanga set the stage for a brilliant 110-run partnership in 11.4 overs. Kohler-Cadmore scored 92 runs in 55 balls with the help of 5 fours and 8 sixes, while Upul Tharanga scored 37 runs in 33 balls. He hit 4 fours during his innings.

Naveen-ul-Haq quickly pulled things back for Colombo Stars by picking up the wickets of captain Thisara Perera and Shoaib Malik, however, Wanindu Hasaranga played a quick 7-ball 19 in Jaffna Kings’ latter half. ‘ innings and helped his team record a high total.
