look | Manisha Kalyan Rath scored a historic goal for the Indian women’s football team against Brazil

Friday, November 26, 2021 will forever be etched in the history books of Indian football as the Indian women’s football team defeated the world’s seventh-ranked team Brazil in a three-nation tournament.

It was always going to be a tough task for the Indian team against the better ranked Brazil and Blue Tigresses in the first minute of the game itself. Brazil continued to build up the pressure, but the historic moment came seven minutes later. In a counter-attack, Manisha gets a cushioned header from Pyari on the left, the young Indian attacking midfielder lifts up on the left, enters the box and deflects a low drive that opened India’s account by beating the Brazilian goalkeeper.

Manisha was also the first Indian to score in a top-flight Asian competition, as she found the back of the net for Gokulam Kerala FC in the 2021 AFC Women’s Asian Championship against FC Bunyodkar of Uzbekistan.

The Indian team kept the pressure on hosts Brazil during the first half and ended the half with just one goal.
