Academy, Mumbai. Kane Williamson’s SRH made a stellar start to IPL 2022 with a crushing 61-run loss to Rajasthan Royals. SRH’s bowling and batting looked very normal in their opening encounters and the team relied heavily on individual talent to break the line. On the other hand, LSG made a mixed start to the season with a loss against Gujarat Titans, followed by a thrilling win over Chennai Super Kings.
LSG relies heavily on their batting skills which have some quality white-ball players like KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis and Manish Pandey. While SRH’s batting looked a bit weak in front of them, Williamson and Nicholas Pooran were the big names.

West Indies’ Evin Lewis smashed an unbeaten 55 off 23 balls while chasing a target of 211 against CSK, while in Deepak Hooda, LSG have a dependable middle-order batsman. Young Aayush Badoni, who has taken the current IPL by storm with his six, is a treat to watch and he looks to continue his stellar form.
Badoni smashed a 41-ball 54 in his IPL debut against the Titans and followed it up with another entertaining knock of 19 not out in nine balls against CSK.
On the bowling front, Avesh Khan, Sri Lankan Dushmantha Chamira, Andrew Tye and Ravi Bishnoi were the main wicket-takers for LSG in the two matches so far but they need to be more disciplined to control the run flow. Sunrisers, on the other hand, were blown away by the batting effort of Rajasthan Royals in their 61-run loss in their opening match.
In his only match so far, South Africa’s Aiden Markram scored an unbeaten 57 off 41 balls, while Sundar played a brilliant knock of 40 off 14 balls, albeit in a loss. Sunrisers will be looking for a perfect, all-round performance to register their first win of the season.
