A 4-year-old boy fell into a borewell in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh at around 2.30 pm on Wednesday. The incident took place near Narayanpura and Pathapur village of Orchha Road police station area. On information, police and administrative officers have reached the spot. A camera has been inserted inside the borewell, in which the movement of the child has also been seen. Around 18 feet deep pit has been dug around. The team of SDERF (State Disaster Emergency Response Force) has taken the lead on the spot. The child has grabbed the rope put in the pit by the team. According to officials, the team is 5 feet away from the child. The rescue is expected to be completed in the next one hour.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan spoke to the mother of the child through videocall. The CM assured him of the safe evacuation of the child. The administrative staff is involved in the rescue. CMO Ompal Singh Bhadauria is putting lace from above. DSP Shashank Jain has come down to measure in the pit.

Akhilesh Yadav’s 4-year-old son Deependra Yadav, a resident of Narayanpura in Chhatarpur, went to the farm with the family. While playing here, he fell into the borewell. Collector Sandeep GR told that the innocent Deependra is trapped at a depth of 25 feet. The child is talking. Oxygen supply has been started in the borewell. The field has turned muddy due to rain. Due to this there is a problem in the rescue.

SDERF teams have also left from Gwalior, Jabalpur and Sagar. NDRF team of 27 jawans has also left from Lucknow at around 4 pm. Army units have also been called in the rescue work.

150 people engaged in rescue

About 150 people of the rescue team have been engaged to save the child. This includes the team of SDRF, Police, Municipality and Nagar Sena. Apart from this, more than 300 villagers are also present for help. The camera has been inserted in the borewell. At the same time, three JCBs are being excavated from about 7 feet away from the borewell.

Mother Laxmi Yadav told that the son had gone to the farm with the grandfather. He has two sons. The elder one is Naresh and the younger one is Deependra. Last year he got admitted in nursery. A year ago, borewell was installed on the farm. Due to non-availability of water, the borewell was closed by placing thorny bushes. Recently the bushes were removed to make the field before the rains. While playing there, Dipendra went to the borewell and the accident happened.

Collector Sandeep GR told that the child is trapped at a depth of 30 to 40 feet. Excavation is being done parallel to the borewell. Oxygen supply is being given to the child. It has turned muddy because of the rain. This is causing some problems in the rescue. However, they are trying to get the child safe by making a tunnel.

Chief Minister Shivraj took information about the rescue
On the news of the child falling into the borewell in Chhatarpur, CM Shivraj Singh has taken information about the rescue operation from the officers. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, after discussing with the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Collector Chhatarpur, has instructed that proper arrangements should be made for the early evacuation of the child. The Chief Minister has also directed the SDRF team to reach the spot and start the work of evacuating the child.

Alok Singh, who was engaged in emergency duty, told that the child has been talked to. He is trapped between 30 to 40 feet. Accordingly, oxygen is being supplied at 5 points in the borewell. If the depth is high, the point of supply has to be increased. Right now we have 6 cylinders of 100 and 200 kg.
