AHMEDABAD: Gujarat on Tuesday reported 93 new Covid-19 cases, the second straight day of the under-100 daily count, taking the coronavirus tally to 8,23,433, while 326 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said. said.
With two more Covid-19 fatalities, the death toll in the state rose to 10,056.
On Monday, 96 new cases were reported in Gujarat. This was the first time in more than 14 months that the one-day case count in Gujarat had fallen below the 100 mark.
The state had registered 78 Covid-19 cases on April 14 last year and 127 cases a day later. At the same time, 326 patients were cured during the day, taking the number of such cases to 8,10,147, the department said in a release.
The state now has 3,230 active cases.
It said that Surat district reported the maximum number of 22 new cases, followed by Ahmedabad with 20, Vadodara 15 and Rajkot eight.
No new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in seventeen districts out of the total 33 districts of Gujarat, the release said.
The department said that one death each occurred in Ahmedabad and Tapi districts.
A total of 2,65,614 people received the dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, taking the number of doses given so far in the state to 2.,53,93,866. Of these, 1.99 crore people have received the first dose and 55.31 lakh people have received the second dose, the release said.
In the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, the Covid-19 tally rose to 10,527 with eight new cases, the local administration said. With seven patients getting discharged during the day, the number of recovered cases rose to 10,481, officials said.
The UT now has 42 active cases, in which four people have died so far. Gujarat’s COVID-19 figures are as follows: positive cases 8,23,433, new cases 93, death toll 10,056, discharged 8,10,147, active cases 3,230, people tested so far – figures not released.
