  • There has been a tremendous jump in the prices of lemons in the Rajkot city of Gujarat.
  • Vendors are now selling them for Rs 200 a kg.
  • This boom is due to a decrease in its supply and an increase in its demand.

The prices of lemons in Gujarat’s Rajkot city have gone up unbelievably as vendors are now selling them for Rs 200 per kg. As the summer heats up, prices have skyrocketed. It is said that due to decrease in its supply and increase in its demand, the price of lemon is skyrocketing.

“The price of lemons is touching Rs 200 per kg. It was earlier around Rs 50-60 a kg. We have to fit everything in a budget. But this increase in price is affecting our ‘kitchen budget’. We Don’t know when the prices will be lower,” a customer told ANI.

As the temperature rises, people prefer to include lemons in their diet as they are a rich source of Vitamin C and help to stay hydrated while promoting digestion. Rising consumption and lack of supply have caused lemon prices to skyrocket.

“The prices of almost every vegetable have gone up. But it is more than our expectation. It is difficult for a middle class customer to buy such expensive vegetables. We are not able to buy lemons in large quantity as before. This increase last year It is almost double the price we were paying in the month of March, don’t know what will happen in April-May,” said Himanshu, a buyer.

Pinal Patel, another buyer, said, “Earlier we used to buy one kg of lemon per week, but now we have to reduce it to 250 or 500 grams due to the rise in price. This has affected our expenses.

The jump in prices has also affected the traders as buyers are forced to buy lemons in smaller quantities after the sudden price rise.
