Ranchi: Even as Left parties welcomed the vote of confidence secured by the state government in the assembly on Monday, they said that their support to mahagathbandhan government will be strictly based on issues.
For the first time since formation of Jharkhand, CPI(M-L) MLA Binod Singh supported a government on the floor of the house during vote of confidence on Monday. “We opposed the BJP’s move to indulge in horse-trading. It is the people who elect or dethrone any government. The state government should try to fulfil the promises made in its manifesto particularly on providing large-scale employment,” Singh on Tuesday said.
CPI (M-L) state secretary Manoj Bhakt said governor Ramesh Bais has not intimated the government on the Election Commission’s decision on office-of-profit issue against chief minister Hemant Soren which has created political uncertainty in the state.
He said that instead of moving to Raipur with the MLAs, it would have been better had the ruling parties taken to the streets to protest against the prevailing political situation.
The CPI state secretary Bhubneshwar Mehta said that the governor should take decision on the office-of-profit issue as soon as possible. “The state government should tackle the problem of displacement, law and order, unemployment and corruption on priority basis. Various commissions, including women’s commission, should be activated sooner than later,” he added.
CPI (M) state secretary Prakash Viplav welcomed the decision to seek vote of confidence saying that the CM has sent a message to people that his government has a large majority in the assembly.
