‘Left my college notes in it’: Ireland cricketer Gaby Lewis asks ICC about his stalled baggage

Ireland’s women’s cricketer Gabby Lewis on Monday posted a tweet to the International Cricket Council (ICC) investigating this. The right-handed batsman questioned the team’s belongings still in Oman, saying it contained documents from his college. The Ireland women’s cricket team squad previously traveled to Harare, Zimbabwe to compete in qualifying for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup.

However, the emergence of the coronavirus variant Omicron made it necessary to postpone the tournament. As a result, the Ireland cricket team had to return to their homeland.

Since there was no direct flight from Harare to Dublin, the team had to take several connecting flights to get there. according to a IANS Reportedly, the squad traveled through Windhoek, Namibia, Oman and Qatar before boarding a direct flight to Ireland. The flight landed on November 30 and the team was kept in a 10-day hotel quarantine.

The 20-year-old Irish cricketer asked if the ICC had received any update about his bag. She also mentioned in the tweet that her college notes are stuck with her suitcase for almost two weeks. Lewis tweeted, “Any updates on our stuff that’s still in Oman, 13 days and counting, Worst of all I left my college notes.”

Lewis made his international debut at the age of 13. She is already a seasoned international player at the age of 20, but she continues to balance cricket and her education.

The event was originally scheduled to run until 5 December, with the winner determining the remaining three berths at the 2019 World Cup, which will be held in New Zealand next year. According to an ICC media release, the qualification position will now be determined on the basis of rankings, with the remaining three places being occupied by Bangladesh, Pakistan and West Indies. Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand (hosts), Pakistan, West Indies and Bangladesh have qualified for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022, which will be held from March 4 to April 3.
