Addressing his first political rally in Assam, Kejriwal highlighted the “threats” issued by Sarma and said he only did “dirty politics” in the last seven years in power.

A day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ‘warned’ Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and called him a ‘coward’, the AAP supremo on Sunday said open threats do not befit a leader.

Addressing his first political rally in Assam, Kejriwal highlighted the “threats” issued by Sarma and said he only did “dirty politics” in the last seven years in power.

“He (Sarma) was threatening me, saying we will put him in jail if I come. The people of Assam are not like that, they are hospitable. They don’t threaten. Himanta Biswa Sarma should learn about the culture and tradition of Assam.”

He also said that the people of Assam do not threaten their guests, but serve them tea.

“When you come to Delhi, please come to my house and have tea. If you have some time, have dinner with me. Then I will show you the whole of Delhi.

This comes after Sarma called Kejriwal a coward who was “hiding behind the veil of immunity in the Delhi Assembly and telling white lies”.

“Shri Arvind Kejriwal is a coward who is hiding behind the veil of immunity in Delhi Assembly and telling white lies. Let him say that there is a corruption case pending against me outside the assembly premises and I will prosecute him like I did his colleague. Manish Sisodia,” Sarma said.

Sarma had filed a defamation case against former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who had alleged that the Assam government had awarded contracts for PPE kits to his wife’s firms above market rates. corona virus Epidemic.

Kejriwal is in Guwahati with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Both the leaders landed at Guwahati’s Borjhar airport around 1.15 pm on Sunday and addressed a rally in the state.

This is not the first time that there has been a rhetoric between the two leaders.

In August last year, Sarma’s announcement about the closure of 36 provincial schools in the state sparked a Twitter war with his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal.

The Delhi CM on Friday told Sarma that both of them should learn from each other, as “only then will India become the number one country”. Kejriwal’s reaction came after the Chief Minister of Assam lashed out at him over the merger of schools, asking him to “do his homework” before making the comment.

Sharing a news story that claimed the Assam government has closed 34 schools due to poor results, Kejriwal on Wednesday tweeted in Hindi, “Closing schools is not the solution. We really need to open a lot of new schools across the country. Instead of closing schools, fix them by improving education.”
