The leaning building in Bengaluru was evacuated.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Wednesday demolished a building in Vrishabhavati ward near Shankara Nag bus stand in Bengaluru Kamala Nagar area. The building was evacuated before the civil body took action.

After two buildings collapsed in Bengaluru, a residential building in the city’s Kamala Nagar leaned dangerously late Tuesday night, while the wall of a house in Nagarathpet collapsed following torrential rains on Wednesday morning, the civic agency said.

It said that no casualties were reported in these incidents.

As the building in Kamla Nagar near Shankar Nag bus stand began to tilt on Tuesday night, residents ran out of their homes for safety, leaving behind their belongings.

After the incident, Karnataka Excise Minister K Gopalaiah, Brihat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta along with a team of fire brigade and emergency service personnel reached the spot.

Later, the BBMP issued a statement saying, “All the people living in and around those houses were shifted elsewhere.

Arrangements have been made for such families to stay and eat.”

Meanwhile, the side wall of an old house in Nagarthapet collapsed.

Quoting neighbours, the BBMP said, there were no casualties as no one is living in the house for the past six years. He also said that the work of removing the debris would be started immediately.

A week ago, a house in Kasturi Nagar collapsed and a residential quarter in the premises of Bangalore Milk Union Limited (BAMUL) crashed due to heavy rains.

No casualty was reported in both the incidents as people were evacuated in time.
