The jawans are ready in security within a radius of 500 meters, forces have been deployed on the roofs. Nearby shops were kept closed till the survey was done.

In 2021, 5 women filed petition on Gyanvapi

  • Rakhi Singh, a resident of Delhi and Laxmi Devi, Sita Sahu, Manju Vyas and Rekha Pathak, a resident of Banaras, filed a petition in the court of Civil Judge Senior Division, Varanasi on 18 August 2021.
  • It said that the Gyanvapi complex houses Hindu deities. In such a situation, regular darshan-worship of Maa Shringar Gauri should be allowed in the Gyanvapi campus. Along with this, it was also said in the petition to clarify the situation by conducting a survey for the safety of other deities located on the premises.
  • The temple of Maa Shringar Gauri is at the rear of Gyanvapi. Before 1992, there used to be regular darshan-worship here. Later it was closed due to security and other reasons. At present, one day in a year on Chaitra Navratri, the worship of Shringar Gauri is allowed.
  • The Muslim side has no objection to the worship of Shringar Gauri. They are opposed to the survey and videography of the entire campus. They are opposing the same thing from Varanasi Court to Supreme Court.

26 April 2022 :

6 May 2022 :

  • Advocate Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra started the survey regarding Hindu-Muslim parties.
  • On this day only Shringar Gauri’s deity-walls could be videographed.
  • A large number of Muslims came to the mosque for Namaz. There was also a slight uproar.
  • The Muslim side accused the Advocate Commissioner of unilateral survey.

7th May 2022 :

  • The survey resumed, with the plaintiffs alleging that more than 500 Muslims were in the mosque.
  • No one was being allowed to enter inside, nor was the administration cooperating.
  • When the dispute escalated, the survey was stopped and the matter went to court again.

9 May 2022 :

  • In the court, the plaintiff said – Advocate commissioner is doing his job properly.
  • Baseless allegations are being made against them, Gyanvapi’s survey should be allowed.

10 May 2022 :

  • In the court, there was an argument between both the sides, change of Advocate Commissioner and presented arguments.
  • The Muslim side had sought time till May 11 to give some more facts.
  • The court gave the date for May 12. Said- If needed, the judge himself will go to the spot.

12 May 2022 :

  • The court ordered a round-the-clock survey of the basement and the premises. The next hearing will be on May 17.
  • The matter of the survey also reached the Supreme Court. The decision of the survey of the Varanasi Court was challenged.
  • The Chief Justice of India said on this petition that he would first look at the files, then take a decision.
