Lalu Prasad, Wife Rabri Devi To Appear Before Delhi Court In Land-For-Jobs Scam Case

New Delhi: RJD chief Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and their daughter RJD MP Misa Bharti reached Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday (March 15) morning in the land-for-job case. The hearing of the case will start at 11 am. He was summoned on February 27 by Special Judge Gitanjali Goel of Rouse Avenue Court. The land-for-jobs case pertains to alleged appointments made in the Railways in lieu of land sold or given to the family of Lalu Prasad since 2004 when he was Union Railway Minister. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has claimed that the appointments made in the Railways were not following the standards and guidelines set up by the Indian Railways for recruitment, reported IANS.

What are the allegations against Lalu Prasad and his family?

The family members of Lalu Prasad were able to buy the land at cheap prices as per the allegations. The CBI had filed a chargesheet on October 10, 2022, against 16 people, including Lalu Prasad’s Rabri Devi and her daughter.

Prima facie, the on-record report shows that offenses under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act have been committed, according to an observation made by Gitanjali Goel, Special Judge, Rouse Avenue Court, on February 27. Consequently, the accused persons were summoned to the court.

The CBI charge sheet states that the then General Manager of Central Railway and CPO of Central Railway may also be involved in the case.

It was also alleged that the candidates have used false TCs and submitted false attestation documents to the Ministry of Railways, as per the CBI statement cited by ANI.
