Celebrity designer Manish Malhotra, who is known to be a game changer in the fashion world, added another feather to his cap by paving a way for the fashion industry in the NXT universe.
Making him the first designer to lead the industry in this new revolution, Manish Malhotra joined hands with WazirX NFT Marketplace and FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week And create 5 unique fashion NFTs. Fashion NFT includes Archive Diaries – a photo of Lisa Ray from 1998, a GIF file of a stunning sketch of a chikankari ensemble, a video from 2013 titled Reminiscing Runway, featuring a sari from the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani titled Illuminated Showstopper a sketch.
Describing it as a new medium for designers and artists to express themselves, Manish says, “This unexplored new world – NFT, astonished me. It is a new stream and platform not only for artists creating physical products but also for new age artists, designers, illustrators and digital content creators.”
So, understanding NFTs is as simple as explaining a silhouette to a client? Manish quipped, “Just as a silhouette conveys the artist’s emotion and the message he wants to convey, similarly an NFT creator expresses his message through his art in various mediums. It is then collected by the collector in respect of the producer’s message.”
Before delving into the designs, Manish Malhotra shared how he browsed through some old photographs/sketches including a black and white image of a runway show, the artists wearing their creations and a photoshoot he did for his first store. He became indifferent while doing it. All these moments have made the label what it is today, and they are glad they got the chance to share it with the NFT community. Manish believes that there is so much diversity in NFTs when it comes to art, be it hand sketches, gif files or video clips, there is something for everyone.
When asked if he would encourage his Bollywood friends to join him, he says, “I would advise everyone to do their research thoroughly first and take risks to grow continuously in the ever-changing digital world. Give. I hope my participation will encourage them to explore and take advantage of this new and exciting opportunity.
