Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: UP Police arrested 2 people, Minister Ajay Mishra’s son missing

Lucknow: Four days after the death of eight people in the horrific Lakhimpur Kheri incident, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested two people in this case.

Two people have been detained and are being interrogated in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. News agency ANI quoted sources in the UP government as saying that the police have recovered empty shells of bullets at the site of violence.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Range Inspector General of Police Laxmi Singh said that the police are on the lookout for Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni and trying to arrest him soon.

Singh further said that the search is on for the arrest of Ashish Mishra, who was arrested for murder in the Lakhimpur Kheri FIR.

Four farmers were crushed by an SUV in Lakhimpur Kheri when a group agitating against the Centre’s three new agricultural laws protested against the visit of UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on October 3.

Later, two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and a driver were allegedly beaten to death by angry protesters, while a local journalist was also killed in the violence.

The farmer has claimed that Ashish was one of the cars that allegedly drove the protesters down but the minister has denied the allegations.
