On October 3, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence filed an application before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) to introduce new sections to make their offense punishable under the charges of attempt to murder against the 13 accused. requested to be included. SIT Investigating Officer Vidyaram Diwakar filed an application in the CJM court last week to add new sections to the warrant in place of sections 279, 338 and 304A of the IPC.

In his application, the Investigating Officer stated that the incident was well-planned and a willful act and not negligence or negligence.

The Investigating Officer has amended Section 279 to add Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 34 (act done by several persons with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. has requested. (speeding or riding a vehicle on a public road), 338 (whosoever so rashly or negligently causes grievous hurt to any person) and 304A (negligent cause of death) of the IPC.

On October 3, eight people, including four protesting farmers, were killed when an SUV of Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister Ajay Mishra Teni, was rammed into an SUV. A local journalist also died in the violence. The SIT has so far arrested Ashish Mishra, Lavkush, Ashish Pandey, Shekhar Bharti, Ankit Das, Latif, Shishupal, Nandan Singh, Satyam Tripathi, Sumit Jaiswal, Dharmendra Banjara, Rinku Rana and Ullas Trivedi.

They are lodged in Lakhimpur Kheri District Jail. Meanwhile, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has given the state government two weeks to file a counter-affidavit on the bail application of Ashish Mishra. During the hearing of the case, Additional Advocate General Vinod Shahi apprised the court about the ongoing investigation. Shahi said the statements of a large number of witnesses are yet to be recorded.
