Lakhimpur Kheri: Farmer arrested on charges of ‘lynching’ sent on 3-day remand

Gurvinder Singh was arrested in this case along with another farmer Vichitra Singh on Tuesday.

The SIT probing the October 3 incident, in which four protesting farmers and a journalist were allegedly rammed by three cars, including a car belonging to the Union minister, had sought Gurvinder’s remand so that he could be arrested. He was able to recover the stick which he had used to beat up the victims. . The court, accepting the request of the SIT, sent Gurvinder to three days’ police custody from the morning of October 28.

The court also remanded four farmers and four others, who were registered in the alleged murder of a journalist, to two-day police custody.

The four are Sumit Jaiswal, Shishu Pal, Nandan Singh Bhist and Satya Prakash Tripathi. This is the second time that the SIT has got the remand of these four accused.
