Officials said the proposal submitted by the Delhi government’s education department for the yatra had come to the lieutenant governor (LG) for approval, after Sisodia’s approval

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has given “in principle” approval for Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s visit to the US to attend an education conference, but there is a “lack of clarity” on this, Raj Niwas officials said on Friday. Who will bear the expenses of their travel.

Proposal moved by the department of the Government of Delhi Education After Sisodia’s approval for the trip came to the lieutenant governor (LG) for approval, he said. Sisodia, who holds the education portfolio, had expressed his desire to attend the TESOL education conference in the US city of Portland along with some officials.

“The proposal lacks clarity as to who will bear the expenses of Sisodia’s travel. Where in one para the department has stated that ‘the entire cost of the tour of the Deputy CM will be borne by TESOL and there will be no financial liability on the government’, in a subsequent para it is further stated that, ‘the entire cost of the tour will be borne by TESOL’ Will be done.’ Will be borne by Hon’ble Deputy CM GAD (General Administration Department), GNCTD (Govt. of Delhi), said an official.

Noting that both these statements were contradictory, Saxena gave “in-principle” approval for the proposed visit, “subject to requisite clearances from the ministries at the Center concerned, including FCRA (Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act) clearance from the Central Government.” As is the case with every foreign visit undertaken by any minister or official of any state”, the official said.
