Kurukshetra: Man tortured over stolen phone, one cop suspended | Chandigarh News – Times of India

KURUKSHETRA: In a case of torturing a man for buying a stolen mobile by crime investigation agency (CIA), the Kurukshetra superintendent of police (SP) Ashnu Singla suspended a sub-inspector (SI) and sent four others to police lines including an SI, a head constable (HC) and two constables.
The SP has also marked departmental inquiry against the concerned police officials.
Kurukshetra police station said that in case 772/2021, dated December 22, 2021, registered at Krishna Gate police station, some negligent was found on the part of police officials in arresting Rohtash of Krishna Nagar GamdiKurukshetra.
“Due to adopted negligee, Kurukshetra SP Anshu Singla suspended SI Daljit Singh posted at CIA-II and sent SI Balwant Singh, HC Baldev Singh, and constables Sanjeev Kumar and Dinesh to police lines. The SP has also ordered a departmental probe against all these concerned police officials”, said the.
On February 12, CIA-II had picked up Rohtash and the police claimed that they recovered one of the stolen phones from him and secured his judicial custody. Rohtash alleged that he was tortured so that he had to be hospitalised with a broken thigh bone.
Indri MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap who is from the same community of Rohtash had visited to meet him at LNJP civil hospital in Thanesar, Kurukshetra, and demanded action against the erring police officials.
