Kriti Sanon-starrer Mimi skips theatrical release, heads to Netflix on July 30
Amidst the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, many films have skipped theatrical release and taken the OTT route keeping in mind the safety of the audience. The latest to go for OTT release is masterpiece i sayof mm. Coming on July 30, the film will be released on Netflix and Jio Cinema. It also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar. Kriti announced the release date on Instagram and shared a new poster of the film. Apart from Kriti, the poster also features Pankaj and Sai.
She wrote in the caption, “This July, unexpected offer will change her life! Delivering #MimiTrailer in 3 days, #Tuesday! #NothingLikeWhatYoureExpecting! #Mimi Releasing July 30th on @officialjiocinema and @netflix_in.”
The actor also shared another poster which read, “This July, the happiest movie will make you cry! Giving a glimpse of her story in 3 days, #Tuesday! Stay tuned for #MimiTrailer. #NothingLikeWhatYoureExpecting #Mimi Release on 30th July on @officialjiocinema and @netflix_in.”
Directed by Laxman Utekar, ‘Mimi’ is a remake of Samriddhi Pore’s National Award winning Marathi film ‘Mala I Whychi’. (2011). It is produced by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. Kriti will be seen playing the role of a young surrogate mother in the film. Kriti had gained 15 kg for her role. Actors Manoj Pahwa and Supriya Pathak are also a part of the film.
Laxman Utekar has written the story and screenplay of the film along with Rohan Shankar, who has also penned the dialogues. ‘Mimi’ marks the reunion of many involved in the film. It brings Kriti, Pankaj, director Laxman Utekar and producer Dinesh Vijan back together after their hit romantic-comedy ‘Luka Chuppi’. The film reunites Kriti and Pankaj after ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’.
‘Mimi’ is the latest in the long list of collaborations between Dinesh and Kriti that includes ‘Raabta’, ‘Luka Chuppi’ and ‘Arjun Patiala’. Kriti also made a special appearance in Dinesh’s successful 2019 horror-comedy ‘Stree’. Apart from ‘Mimi’, Kriti has many interesting films in her kitty including ‘Bhediya’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Adipurush’ and ‘Ganpath’.
