Kovid: Youth Congress calls for postponement of OCS exam. Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: The Youth Congress on Saturday wrote to the chairman of the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) asking him to postpone the state’s Civil Services Main Examination-2020 in view of the increasing cases of Kovid-19.
The exam will start from January 20 and will continue till February 8. Candidates have already requested the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to intervene in the matter.
Smruti Ranjan lenkaThe Odisha unit president of Youth Congress said in the letter that OPSC should not conduct the exam at a time when the state is reporting more than 10,000. covid cases per day. “Experts said that we may reach the peak of the third wave by the end of this month or by the first week of February. That is, more cases will come to the fore in the coming days. It is sheer foolishness to hold the main exam during this time.”
He said that the government has closed schools, colleges and universities after the increase in the number of cases of Kovid in the state and questioned why it was interested in conducting examinations during this period.
He said that many candidates have tested positive for Covid-19 before the exam.
“Many of them may get infected while appearing for the exam and it will affect their performance. A candidate needs sound health and peace of mind to appear in the exam,” he said.
Lenka said that some candidates who are living in rural areas will face difficulties in finding a place to live in the city and appearing for the test during the COVID pandemic.
