New Delhi: more than 158 crore vaccine doses has been provided to States of America and Union Territories, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday issued the prevailing . informed in view of COVID-19 Situation.
The Ministry in its press release today informed that more than 158 crore (1,58,01,46,015) vaccine doses have been provided to the States/UTs so far through Government of India (Free Channel) and Direct State Procurement Category. .
In addition, over 14.13 crore (14,13,44,641) remaining and unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs, the ministry said.
Central Government is committed to accelerate the pace and expand the scope of COVID-19 Vaccination across the country.
Nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on January 16, 2021. The new phase of universalization of Covid-19 vaccination began on June 21, 2021.
Immunization drive intensified through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to states union territories For them to better plan and streamline the vaccine supply chain.
As part of the nationwide immunization campaign, the Government of India is supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them with free COVID vaccines.
In the new phase of universalisation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, the central government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and union territories.
Meanwhile, India reported 2,71,202 new Covid-19 cases, 314 deaths and 1,38,331 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.
