Kolkata: PM Modi to inaugurate second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute tomorrow

New Delhi: The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, will inaugurate the second campus of the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) in Kolkata on Friday at 1 pm. Modi will inaugurate the campus online through video conferencing.

The second campus of the institute has been built in line with the Prime Minister’s vision to expand and upgrade health facilities across the country, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

The institute is seeing an increase in the load of cancer patients and the need for expansion was necessary. This need will be met through other campuses.

The second campus of CNCI has been built at a cost of over Rs 530 crore, of which about Rs 400 crore is provided by the Center and the rest by the West Bengal government in the ratio of 75:25. release.

A Noida-based agency was involved in the procurement work under the supervision of the Health Ministry. The campus is a 460-bed comprehensive cancer center unit with state-of-the-art infrastructure for cancer diagnosis, staging, treatment and care.

The complex is well equipped with modern facilities like Nuclear Medicine (PET), 3.0 Tesla MRI, 128 Slice CT Scanner, Radionuclide Therapy Unit, Endoscopy Suite, Modern Brachytherapy Unit etc.

The campus will also serve as an advanced cancer research facility and provide comprehensive care to cancer patients, especially those from the eastern and northeastern parts of the country.

CNCI’s first campus with 207 beds is located at Hazra in the southern part of the city.
