Kolkata Municipal Corporation election result: Counting for the 144 wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections began on Tuesday morning after the ruling Trinamool Congress took an early lead in six wards, SEC officials said.
A State Election Commission official said, “The counting of votes began at 8 am. As per the early trends, TMC has made an early lead in six wards so far.”
TMC has taken an early lead in ward numbers 23, 11, 31, 2, 4 and 7. Sporadic incidents of violence, including hurling of bombs at two booths, affected the KMC polls on Sunday, even as the turnout was over 63 per cent out of around 40.5. Lakhs of voters exercised their franchise.
