UPSC Civil Services 2021 All India Rank 1 holder Shruti Sharma credits her success to the residential coaching academy at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI). This is an initiative by the university to provide coaching to the meritorious students. It also provides free training to needy students.
For future IAS aspirants, RCA is inviting applications for free coaching with hostel facility. Students belonging to minority, SC, ST, categories and women candidates are eligible to apply. The last date for submission of online application form is 15th June 2022. Students can apply through www.jmicoe.in.

To get selected for the Civil Services 2022 coaching programme, which includes training for both preliminary and mains, an entrance test will be conducted on July 2, 2022. The result of the same will be out on July 25. Thereafter the interview is likely to be conducted. From 1-8 August 2022 and the final result will be on 10 August 2022. Classes will start from 22nd August.
Like UPSC, the entrance exam will consist of two papers, with Paper 1 consisting of General Studies and will be an objective type test only. Essay will have to be written in Paper-2.
UPSC Exam RCA Coaching: Eligibility Criteria
Only those candidates who have already completed their graduation and eligible to apply in Civil Services 2023 need to apply for RCA-JMI.
Classes on General Studies, CSAT and Selected Optional Paper Test Series, Answer Evaluation and Essay Writing Practice will be part of the syllabus in the coaching. The Academy will also conduct mock interviews for those who qualify for the personality test.
UPSC Exam RCA Coaching: Total Seats
Hostel accommodation is mandatory and will be provided to all admitted students. Available seats are 100. In case of shortage, hostel seats may be allotted in a phased manner, strictly on the basis of merit determined by the entrance test. However, RCA reserves the right to reduce the intake if sufficiently qualified candidates are not available.
The application form is to be filled online at JMI exam website www.jmicoe.in. The application has to be submitted online with a fee of Rs.850.
Talking to RCA, Director, News18, Prof. Abid Haleem said that the academy provides an ecosystem in the academic environment and an excellent peer group with 24×7 library facilities, professional test series and mock interviews.
Pro. Abid Haleem further said that the entrance test for admission to the academy will be conducted on July 2, 2022, this year. The exam will be conducted at its 10 centers- Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Patna, Hyderabad, Mumbai. Lucknow, Guwahati, Bengaluru and Malappuram (Kerala).
Mohammad Tariq, Deputy Director, RCA and Associate Professor, said that it is a matter of great pride for Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) that Shruti Sharma of the University’s Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) has secured first position in UPSC Civil Services. Exam 2021.
A total of 23 students including nine girls from RCA have been selected for Civil Services 2021 this year. Many selected candidates will get IAS, IPS, IFS and other central services.
Jamia Residential Coaching Academy was established in October 2010 at Jamia to provide free residential coaching to minority, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and women students for civil services and other competitive examinations.
