KKR’s Nitish Rana rewarded with captain’s role in domestic tournament, Prithvi Shaw in for West Zone

After leading Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2023, Nitish Rana has been rewarded with the role of captain in India’s domestic tournament – the Deodhar Trophy. Rana was recently ignored in India’s T20 squad for the tour of West Indies and he was quite disappointed by it. Meanwhile the batsmen of Delhi Capitals Prithvi Shaw Has been included in the West Zone team for the Zonal Tournament.

Rana will lead a 15-member North Zone team in the upcoming 50-over tournament – Deodhar Trophy. Rana has not featured in any domestic tournament or Indian match after the completion of IPL 2023. Notably, their North Zone team includes players like young Indian rising stars Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran, Nishant Sindhu and Harshit Rana.

Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dubey for West Zone

Notably, DC’s Prithvi Shaw and CSK’s Shivam Dube have been included in the West Zone squad along with SRH’s Rahul Tripathi. Dube had a stellar IPL season for title-winning CSK and was instrumental in it M S DhoniThe team will win the title for the fifth time.

Abhishek, Prabhsimran, Harshit may join North later

Notably, Abhishek Sharma, wicket-keeper batsman Prabhsimran Singh and Harshit Rana, who are part of India’s squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, may join the northern squad a day late. This is the reason why there is very little gap between the end of the Emerging Asia Cup and the start of the Deodhar Trophy. The Emerging Asia Cup will be played from July 13 to July 23, while the zonal tournament will begin on July 24.
